Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 14/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough will move through far southwest Queensland during today and then progress eastwards across the southern interior through the remainder of the weekend, with hot northerly winds ahead of the trough. The trough is then expected to stall over the interior of the state early next week with unstable conditions persisting to the east of the trough.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers and storms about the west and southwest with some severe storms likely. More isolated showers and storms about the far north and only the chance of isolated showers and storms about the southeast interior. Some isolated showers about the tropical east coast. Hot over the southern districts. Light to moderate northeast to northwest winds across the state, fresh about the Channel Country and the southeast coast.Fire Danger -  Severe in the Channel Country and Maranoa and Warrego districts. Very high in the southeast interior and the Central West.Sunday 16 FebruaryScattered showers and and storms over the western districts, extending into the central and southern interior during the day. More isolated shower and storm activity over the remainder of the state. Hot conditions over the southeast of the state, while a much cooler day is expected in the Channel Country.Monday 17 FebruaryScattered showers and thunderstorms over most parts of the state, particularly through the tropics and the interior. Drier air should extend into the southwest of the state with mostly fine conditions in the Channel Country.Tuesday 18 FebruaryScattered showers and thunderstorms over most parts of the state, particularly through the tropics and the interior. Shower and storms should increase further about the state's far north as the monsoon trough strengthens.Wednesday until FridayA trough should remain over the interior of the state during the latter part of the week, and moisture flowing towards the trough should generate further showers and storms over the eastern half of the state. Rain increasing about parts of the far north as the monsoon trough strengthens.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.Product IDQ10700
