MELBOURNE - Feb 14/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough is expected to move eastwards across the southern interior during the weekend, before stalling over the interior early in the new week. Hot northwesterly winds ahead of the trough. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers and thunderstorms over the far west and the far north. Mostly fine about the remainder of the state except for some isolated showers about the east coast and some isolated showers and storms about the southeast interior. Light to moderate northeast to northwest winds across the state, fresh about the Channel Country and the southeast coast.Saturday 15 FebruaryScattered showers and storms about the southwest. More isolated showers and storms about the far north and also over the southeast of the state. Some isolated showers about the tropical east coast. Hot over the southern districts. Light to moderate northeast to northwest winds across the state, fresh about the Channel Country and the southeast coast.Fire Danger - Severe over the southern interior.Sunday 16 FebruaryScattered showers and and storms over the western districts and the southern interior, and more isolated activity over the remainder of the state. Hot conditions over the southeast of the state, while a much cooler day is expected in the Channel Country.Monday 17 FebruaryAt least isolated showers and thunderstorms over most parts of the state, particularly through the tropics and the interior.Tuesday 18 FebruaryAt least isolated showers and thunderstorms over most parts of the state, particularly through the tropics and the interior. Shower and storms should increase about the state's far north as the monsoon trough strengthens.Wednesday until FridayA trough should remain over the interior during the latter part of the week, and moisture flowing towards the trough should generate further showers and storms over the eastern half of the state.
