MELBOURNE - Feb 14/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high is centred over the central Tasman Sea, while a complex low pressure system lies through western New South Wales and South Australia. This system will shift eastwards later on the weekend under the influence of a developing cold front, resulting in a band of rain pushing across the state. Following this, a weak ridge will extend across the region from the west, although a trough may linger over the northeast into the new week. Forecast for the rest of FridayAreas of rain and possible thunderstorms over the southern inland, becoming heavy at times in the southwest. Patchy rain or isolated showers across most central and northern districts, although remaining generally dry near the Queensland border. Mainly northeast to northwesterly winds, fresh near the coast and in the northwest.Saturday 15 FebruaryAreas of rain and possible thunderstorms in western, central and southern areas, clearing from the southwest during the day. The chance of showers or patchy rain in the northeast. Generally cloudy. Northeast to northwesterly winds in the east, tending northwest to southwesterly inland. Winds Fresh and gusty along much of the coast in the afternoon, and across the northern inland.Fire Danger - Very High: New England, Northern Slopes, North Western, Upper Central West PlainsSunday 16 FebruaryAreas of rain and possible thunderstorms through eastern and northern districts, easing and contracting further northeast through the day. Fine and becoming mostly sunny in the southwest. Northerly winds in the northeast, freshening during the day. Cooler southerly winds extending through remaining districts, fresh and gusty along the coast and over the western inland.Monday 17 FebruaryIsolated showers in the northeast, scattered about the tablelands, possibly extending to the central inland and coast.
