Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 13/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow moving ex-tropical low over WA will move eastwards across South Australia on Friday causing widespread significant rainfall. During Saturday and Sunday a high pressure system will move over the west of the State.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayAreas of rain with local heavy falls and isolated thunderstorms over the agricultural area and west of the State, easing to patchy rain and possible thunderstorms over the Lower South East and remaining areas, although tending to dry conditions northeast of about Broken Hill to Oodnadatta. Widespread rain and scattered thunderstorms with local heavy falls west of about Ceduna to Giles. Cool in the south grading to hot in the northeast, but milder in areas affected by rain. Mainly moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, tending southwest to northwesterly in the north and west.Friday 14 FebruaryWidespread rain developing over the agricultural area and over the Northwest Pastoral west of about Marla, although grading to lighter rain over the South East district, with just isolated showers in the Lower South East. Areas of rain developing over remaining parts, easing over areas northeast of Broken Hill to Oodnadatta, grading to dry conditions in the far northeast. Local heavy falls and possible flooding in the northwest and also in widespread rain areas. Isolated thunderstorms, scattered in the north. Rain easing over western parts during the day and over the east in the evening. Cool to mild in the south grading to hot in the far northeast. Mainly moderate northeast to southeasterly winds, shifting southwest to southerly in the west.Saturday 15 FebruaryAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms northeast of about Coober Pedy to Renmark contracting to the northeast corner during the day. Isolated light showers over the remainder. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southerly winds extending throughout.Sunday 16 FebruaryAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms northeast of Marree, contracting eastwards. Fine over the remainder apart from possible isolated showers over the southern agricultural area, chiefly in the morning. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north with mainly moderate southwest to southeasterly windsMonday 17 FebruaryFine apart from possible isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far northeast. Mild in the south, grading to warm in the north with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending northerly at times in the morning and early afternoon. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday afternoon to midnight Monday are expected to be 20 to 60 mm in widespread rain areas and in the far northwest, with local falls of 60 to 100 mm possible. Rain will ease to 5 to 20 mm over the remainder, grading to just 1 to 5 mm in the Lower South East. The majority of this rainfall will occur on Friday.Tuesday until ThursdayFine apart from possible isolated showers over the southern agricultural area, clearing during Thursday. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the far north with moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Friday.Product IDS10033
