Hot conditions over the southern interior with light to moderate northwest to northeast winds over the southern interior. Moderate southeast to northeasterly winds elsewhere.Fire Danger - Very High through much of the western, central and southern interior.Friday 14 FebruaryThe ridge along the east Queensland coast will weaken further, with just the chance of isolated showers occurring about the exposed east coast. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will persist through the Peninsula and Gulf Country. A new trough will likely approach southwestern Queensland, extending high cloud through the south of the state. Instability will also increase through the southern interior, with possible isolated showers and thunderstorms expected, mostly about the New South Wales border from the west to the Darling Downs. Fine and mostly sunny conditions over the remaining interior. Northwesterly winds ahead of the trough will result in hot conditions through the southwest and southern interior.Saturday 15 FebruaryThe new trough will most likely enter the far west of the state, increasing instability further through the interior with some showers and thunderstorms expected, mostly near the southwestern border. A moist and unstable airmass will maintain isolated showers and thunderstorms through the tropics north of about Cairns, with isolated showers about the remaining east tropical coast, central coast and adjacent inland. Fine and mostly sunny conditions are expected elsewhere. Warm to hot conditions will likely spread from the southwest of the state into the southeast, particularly inland parts.Sunday 16 FebruaryThe trough is likely to remain slow moving and lie from the northern Channel Country to the southeast interior. An upper trough should move north through New South Wales and into the southern interior of Queensland. Cloud will increase further through southern and western Queensland with scattered showers and thunderstorms through western areas and through much of the southern and southeast interior. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue in the unstable air mass across most of the tropics. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the remainder of the interior of the state. Hot over the southeast of the state in the northerly winds ahead of the trough but cooler in the cloudy conditions in the southwest.Monday until WednesdayThe trough will most likely remain over the interior of the state during the outlook period, though its movement is still quite uncertain at this stage. The trough is likely to become more active on Wednesday as the next upper trough approaches the southwest of the state. Unstable conditions should continue through much of the state with showers and thunderstorms expected, particularly near the trough where they could become quite widespread. Showers and thunderstorms should also become more widespread through the tropics as a moist airmass feeds into the trough through the interior. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Thursday.Product IDQ10700
