Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 12/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system to the east of Tasmania extends a ridge northwards over the New South Wales coast, while a broad low pressure trough lies over the state's west. A low over Western Australia is expected to move to the southeast during the remainder of the week, with an associated cloud band bringing widespread rain and milder temperatures to large areas of NSW Friday through Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayThe chance of a little early drizzle or a shower or two about the coast. Isolated showers or patchy rain developing over the southern half of the inland in the afternoon, extending to the coast late in the day and evening. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms about the central and northern ranges. Fine elsewhere, although cloud increasing. Hot to very hot in the northwest. East to northeasterly winds near the coast, freshening in the south. North to northwesterly winds west of the ranges, turning southeasterly in the south.Fire Danger -  Very High: Central Ranges, Northern Slopes, North Western, Upper and Lower Central West Plains.Friday 14 FebruaryAreas of rain over southern and central districts, with isolated showers extending to the northeast later. Isolated thunderstorms in the southwest, mostly later. Mostly cloudy. Hot in the northwest. Northeast to northwesterly winds, freshening near the coast and in the far west.Saturday 15 FebruaryAreas of rain in central and southern areas, clearing from the southwest. Isolated showers elsewhere. Possible isolated thunderstorms over central and southern parts. Mostly cloudy. Northeast to northwesterly winds, turning southwesterly in the west.Sunday 16 FebruaryShowers over the northeast half. Generally dry in the southwest.
