MELBOURNE - Feb 11/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will move slowly east and weaken over the next few days. A low over northern WA will move southeastwards to reach western parts of South Australia on Friday as a weak ridge of high pressure develops to the south of the Bight. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayDry apart from isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the north and west. Hot to very hot with moderate to locally fresh southeast to northeasterly winds.Wednesday 12 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the west extending over the remainder of the west Coast and Eyre Peninsula in the afternoon and early evening. Possible isolated showers and thunderstorms developing over the Northwest Pastoral south of Woomera and the eastern Eyre and Flinders districts in the afternoon. Hot to very hot with moderate to fresh east to northeasterly winds.Thursday 13 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the west. Possible showers extending over remaining areas south and west of about Keith to Adelaide to Coober Pedy during the day with possible thunderstorms over the Northwest Pastoral and Eyre Peninsula. Hot to very hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a milder south to southeasterly change about western and southern coasts.Friday 14 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms extending over northern and western parts of the state apart from the far northeast. Areas of rain over the agricultural and southern pastoral areas south of about Woomera. Warm to hot about southern coasts, hot to very hot elsewhere ahead of a milder southerly change extending across southern parts of the state. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday to midnight Friday are expected to be 5 to 15 mm with local falls up to 25 mm in areas of rain and up to 50 mm with thunderstorms in the north and west. There is a moderate level of uncertainty with these totals due to the variation in timing and track of a low pressure system as it moves over the state during Friday and Saturday.Saturday until MondayFine in the far northwest. Isolated showers elsewhere and isolated thunderstorms in the Northeast Pastoral district, contracting to the far northeast of the state and southern and western coasts by late Saturday then clearing during Sunday. Fine conditions on Monday. Mild to warm about the coasts grading to hot to very hot inland with inland temperatures becoming milder during the period.
