Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 9/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
The monsoon trough lies from a low over Western Australia to another low [Ex-Tropical Cyclone Fletcher] over the northern Gulf Country, then across Cape York Peninsula and into the northern Coral Sea. A strengthening ridge currently lies over southeast Queensland and the eastern inland, extending from a high in the Tasman Sea. The high and ridge will strengthen over coming days.
Forecast for the rest of SundayRain areas and thunderstorms over the state's far north, with some locally heavy falls about the coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria and North Tropical and Central Coasts. Frequent showers tending to rain periods about the central districts, the Capricornia district and the northeast coast. Scattered showers and thunderstorms developing across much of the interior, tending more isolated in the west and south. Mainly fine over the far southeast.Monday 10 FebruaryScattered showers and thunderstorms across most of the state. Rain areas about the far north of the state, mostly about the Gulf Country. Mainly fine over the southeastern districts except for the chance of some isolated showers and storms over the southern interior.Fire Danger -  High to Very High in the south. Low to moderate over the remainder.Tuesday 11 FebruaryScattered showers and thunderstorms over the western and far northern districts. Showers easing along the north tropical coast. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of the interior, with only isolated showers about the east coast north of Fraser Island.Wednesday 12 FebruaryShowers and thunderstorms over the far north of the state and also the far west. Isolated showers about the east coast as the ridge builds. Possible showers or thunderstorms about the southern Darling Downs. Dry over the south and remaining interior as the ridge pushes dry air into the state.Thursday 13 FebruaryScattered showers and thunderstorms continuing over the far north of the state. Isolated showers about the east coast north of about Fraser Island due to a strong ridge. Possible showers or thunderstorms about the southern Darling Downs. Dry over the remaining interior and the south.Friday until SundayIsolated showers and thunderstorms over the far north of the state. A trough will enter the southwest of the state on Friday and will gradually move to the northeast over the weekend. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will track with the trough across the south and west of the state during the outlook period. Mostly sunny and warm to hot in the east and eastern inland due to the strong ridge along the coast and increasing northerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Monday.Product IDQ10700
