MELBOURNE - Feb 9/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weakening high over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge to northeastern New South Wales while a low pressure trough is moving northeast over Victoria . The trough will bring a gusty southerly change to southern NSW late Sunday, then weaken and stall over central parts on Monday. Another high is expected to move slowly over the Tasman Sea Tuesday and Wednesday with hot conditions continuing west of the ranges. Computer model guidance suggests a trough will deepen over western NSW at the end of the week with some rainfall and somewhat milder conditions expected for some western areas. Forecast for the rest of SundayDry and mostly sunny. Hot evening in the west before a change in the southwest with areas of raised dust possible. Northeasterly winds near the coast and northwesterly winds inland, strong in the south, ahead of a late, gusty south to southwesterly change in the south. Areas of smoke in the southeast.Monday 10 FebruaryCloudy about the central part of the coast and adjacent ranges with drizzle patches. Isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms likely over the northern inland. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot west of the ranges, very hot in the northwest. Early fog patches about the northern half of the coast, mostly early morning. Northeast to northwesterly winds in the north, with a south to southeasterly change extending from southern to central parts and weakening.Fire Danger - Very High: Hunter, New England, ACT, Northern and Southern Slopes, Southern and Central Ranges, Eastern and Southern Riverina, Northwestern, Lower Central West Plains.Tuesday 11 FebruaryIsolated showers near the central part of the coast and adjacent ranges clearing in the afternoon. Isolated showers possible on the far north coast during the morning. Isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms likely over the northern inland. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot to very hot in the west. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Wednesday 12 FebruaryIsolated showers possible near the coast but generally dry and mostly sunny. Hot to very hot in the west. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Thursday 13 FebruaryIsolated showers developing over the south and possibly on the far north coast. Hot to very hot in the west.
