MELBOURNE - Feb 7/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will remain near-stationary over the Tasman Sea today. Winds will turn northerly over the State ahead of a low pressure trough moving into the west in the morning, reaching Whyalla to Bordertown Saturday evening, and the North East Pastoral district Sunday morning. A high pressure system will move to the south of the Bight on Sunday following the trough, then move southeastwards reaching the Tasman Sea by Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayHot to very hot with moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds, becoming fresh to strong and gusty north to northwesterly in the south ahead of a milder southerly change moving across the southern and western coastal districts during the afternoon and evening. Areas of raised dust in the west. Possible isolated showers and thunderstorms developing south of about Lameroo to Nullarbor in the afternoon or evening.Sunday 9 FebruaryDry apart from possible isolated showers and thunderstorms about the coastal districts during the early morning. Mild to warm about the coastal districts and hot further inland with moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds. Remaining very hot in the far northeast with light to moderate northeast to easterly winds.Monday 10 FebruaryDry apart from isolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the far north. Mild to warm near southern coasts, hot to very hot elsewhere. Moderate to fresh southeast to northeasterly winds.Tuesday 11 FebruaryDry apart from isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the far north and west. Hot to very hot with moderate to locally fresh southeast to northeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday morning to midnight Tuesday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the far north, otherwise less than 2 mm.Wednesday until FridayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the far west on Wednesday. Possible isolated showers in the far west and about southern coastal districts on Thursday and Friday.
