Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 6/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge will remain near-stationary over the Tasman Sea today while a broad low pressure trough lies over South Australia. Winds will turn northerly over the State on Saturday ahead of another low pressure trough moving into the west in the morning, reaching Whyalla to Bordertown Saturday evening, and the North East Pastoral district Sunday morning. A high pressure system will move to the south of the Bight on Sunday following the trough, then move southeastwards reaching the Tasman Sea by Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayDry apart from possible isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms over northern Eyre Peninsula, the West Coast district and the far south of the North West Pastoral district. Mild to warm about southern coasts, grading to very hot in the north. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds and inshore afternoon sea breezes.Saturday 8 FebruaryHot to very hot with moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds, becoming fresh and gusty north to northwesterly in the south ahead of a milder southerly change moving across the southern and western coastal districts during the afternoon and evening. Areas of raised dust in the west. Possible isolated showers and thunderstorms developing about the Nullarbor and southwest coasts of Lower Eyre Peninsula and Kangaroo Island during the evening.Sunday 9 FebruaryA milder, fresh southerly change extending over the agricultural area and south of the Pastoral and Flinders districts. Remaining hot to very hot further north with mainly moderate northeast to easterly winds. Possible isolated morning showers and thunderstorms about the coastal districts.Monday 10 FebruaryDry apart from isolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the far north. Mild to warm near southern coasts, hot to very hot elsewhere. Moderate to fresh southeast to northeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday morning to midnight Monday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the far north on Monday, otherwise less than 2 mm.Tuesday until ThursdayDry apart from isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the far north and west during Tuesday and Wednesday. Possible isolated showers in the far west and about southern coastal districts on Thursday. Hot to very hot with moderate to fresh east to northeasterly winds turning northerly ahead of a milder south to southeasterly change extending across the south during Thursday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Friday.Product IDS10033
