MELBOURNE - Feb 5/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system east of Tasmania will continue to move eastwards tonight, moving south of New Zealand on Thursday. A weak inland trough of low pressure will develop over western Victoria on Thursday and persist on Friday before weakening on Friday night. A stronger low pressure trough will develop over the Bight during Saturday and will link to a low pressure system further south and approach western Victoria on Saturday night. The trough will enter the west early Sunday morning, moving to central districts around the middle of the day and extending through the east at night. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayClear. Light winds inland, fresh coastal seabreezes easing.Thursday 6 FebruaryFine apart from isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the west. Mainly sunny. A very warm to hot day with light to moderate north to northeasterly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger - High to very high.Friday 7 FebruaryA generally hot and dry day with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds. A weak milder southerly change developing about the southwest and central coasts with isolated late showers possible.Saturday 8 FebruaryGenerally hot to very hot and mostly sunny although some milder sea breezes about the coastal fringe. Light to moderate northerly winds, locally fresh over central areas during the morning.Sunday 9 FebruaryHot at first with moderate northerly winds. A gusty southwesterly change entering the west in the morning, moving to central districts around the middle of the day and extending through the east at night.
