MELBOURNE - Feb 4/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system near Tasmania will move eastwards to be centred over the southern Tasman Sea on Thursday. A trough is forecast to move across South Australia during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the far east of the North West Pastoral district and over the North East Pastoral district south of Moomba. Possible afternoon and early evening showers and thunderstorms over the West Coast district and adjacent North West Pastoral district. Warm to hot in the south grading to hot to very hot in the north. Mainly moderate southeast to northeast winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Thursday 6 FebruaryPossible isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms over eastern border districts. Warm to hot in the south grading to hot to very hot in the north. Light to moderate east to northeast winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Friday 7 FebruaryFine. Warm in the south, grading to hot to very hot in the north. Light to moderate northeasterly winds and light inshore afternoon sea breezes.Saturday 8 FebruaryDry and hot to very hot with northerly winds ahead of a milder, moderate to fresh southerly change moving across the southern and western parts of the State. Possible isolated showers developing about the West Coast district west of about Ceduna later in the day following the change. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday morning until midnight Saturday are expected to be less than 5 mm.Sunday until TuesdayThe milder, moderate to fresh southerly change will extend to southern parts of the Pastoral districts. Possible isolated showers about southern and western coastal areas clearing during Sunday. Possible isolated showers developing about the northern border early next week associated with a trough of low pressure moving in from Queensland.
