MELBOURNE - Feb 3/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the eastern Tasman Sea extends a ridge into northeastern New South Wales, while a trough and associated cold front move into southern New South Wales. This front will bring cooler conditions as it moves northwards during Tuesday, with another high pushing a ridge along the coast in its wake. A trough lingering over the inland behind the change is expected to shift slowly westwards later in the week as the next high becomes dominant and warmer northerly winds develop once again. Forecast for the rest of MondayThe chance of showers on the far north coast. Possible showers or thunderstorms about the southern Alps and inland near the Victorian border. Fine elsewhere. East to northeasterly winds, fresh near the coast. A gusty southerly change developing in the south.Tuesday 4 FebruaryIsolated showers about the southern coast and adjacent tablelands, shifting northwards through the day. The chance of showers or thunderstorms over the central inland, more likely in the afternoon. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Hot in the northwest. A cooler south to southeasterly change extending from the south, fresh and gusty near the coast and tablelands.Fire Danger - Very High: Most districts west of the Divide, and the Hunter and Northern Tablelands areas.Wednesday 5 FebruaryIsolated showers about he coast and adjacent tablelands, becoming scattered in the north and contracting away from the south. The chance of showers or thunderstorms over the far west, more likely in the afternoon. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Hot in the northwest. Southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh about the northern coast.Thursday 6 FebruaryIsolated coastal showers in the north, mainly near the Queensland border. The chance of an afternoon shower over the far west. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Friday 7 FebruaryIsolated showers along the northern coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot in the west.
