Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 1/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad trough of low pressure is situated over the State. A strong high pressure system will develop south of Western Australia on Sunday, and then move eastwards to be centred south of the Bight later Monday and near Tasmania on Wednesday. Gusty south to southeasterly winds associated with the high will strengthen near southern and western coastal districts later Sunday or overnight, and then extend across the agricultural area and south of the pastoral districts on Monday, persisting on Tuesday before easing overnight.
Forecast for the rest of SundayThe SES has issued an Extreme Heat Warning. Patchy rain and possible thunderstorms extending westwards over areas to the north of about Tarcoola to Marree, increasing to areas of rain east of Coober Pedy. Possible isolated showers developing during the afternoon over the Mount Lofty Ranges, Riverland and Murraylands. Very hot, grading to warm in rain areas. Moderate to fresh east to northeasterly winds, shifting milder fresh and gusty southwesterly about coastal districts during the day.Monday 3 FebruaryWindy. Patchy rain and possible thunderstorms over areas to the north of about Tarcoola to Marree, increasing to areas of rain in the far north to the east of Marla. Warm to hot in the north with moderate to fresh southeast to northeasterly winds, ahead of a milder, fresh to strong and gusty south to southeasterly change extending over the agricultural area, West Coast district and south of the Pastoral districts.Tuesday 4 FebruaryWindy. Patchy rain and possible thunderstorms north of Coober Pedy, gradually contracting westwards. Mild about southern coasts grading to warm to hot inland. Fresh to strong and gusty southeasterly winds.Wednesday 5 FebruaryPatchy rain and possible thunderstorms west of Coober Pedy, contracting westwards and clearing by midday. Isolated afternoon showers and possible thunder over the Northeast Pastoral in the east. Warm about southern coasts grading to hot to very hot in the north. Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Wednesday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm with the patchy rain area, increasing to 10 to 30 mm in areas of rain. Showers in the the south are expected to be less then 2 mm. Totals elsewhere will be insignificant.Thursday until SaturdayPossible showers over the Northeast Pastoral and Flinders district on Thursday, then possible showers over the agricultural area and West Coast district on Friday and Saturday. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds and coastal sea breezes. Warm about southern coasts grading to hot to very hot in the north.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Sunday.Product IDS10033
