Ukraine Will Not Ban All U.S. Chicken

KIEV - Feb 17/04 - APK -- According to the State Department of Veterinary Medicine, Ukraine at the moment is not going to ban imports of chicken meat, products and raw materials, because of the "bird flu" cases, detected in some states.

A spokesman for the State Department said that "this issue (of banning the imports from the whole US territory) is not on the agenda so far".

According to media reports, the "bird flu" virus has already been detected three American states: Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey.

As we have already informed, on February 11 Ukraine imposed a ban onto imports of poultry meat, products and raw materials from the State of Delaware.

According to the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Information Service, the bird flue infection, detected in the US, is not connected with the outburst of the disease in the Asian countries and is not dangerous for humans.
