Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 27/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system is centred over the western Tasman Sea, while a low pressure system approaches western New South Wales. This low will follow a path along the state's southern border today, while an associated trough extends through inland districts and into Queensland. During Tuesday this system is forecast to progress across eastern parts, followed by cooler southerly winds. A ridge of high pressure is expected to build from the west in the wake of the trough, and looks set to become the dominant synoptic feature in the region from Wednesday onwards.
Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers and possible thunderstorms in the southeast, easing in the evening. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the northeast, more likely afternoon. The chance of a light shower across remaining southern and eastern parts, clearing from the west during the day. Fine although hot in the northwest. Freshening east to northeasterly winds near the coast. North to northwesterly winds elsewhere, becoming fresh to strong west of the Divide and turning west to southwesterly through the afternoon.Fire Danger -  Severe in the Riverina. Very High across most northern and central districts.Tuesday 29 OctoberIsolated showers in the east, tending scattered in the northeast with afternoon thunderstorms. Fine and mostly sunny in the west. Hot in the northeast. North to northwesterly winds in the northeast, fresh in the afternoon, and fresh southwest to southeasterly winds extending through the remainder. A very strong and gusty southerly change moving along the coast.Wednesday 30 OctoberThe chance of showers in the northeast, more likely along the coast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Early frost patches about the southern ranges. Southwest to southeasterly winds.Thursday 31 Octoberthe chance of showers along the southern and central coast fringe, and in the northeast. Early frost patches about the southern ranges. fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Mainly southwest to southeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDN10031
