Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 26/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak ridge lies along the tropical east coast of Queensland. A high over Victoria extends another ridge over western Queensland. A trough lies from the northwest of the state to the southeast interior.
Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers about southeastern Queensland, tending scattered over parts of the Southeast Coast district. Isolated morning showers over the central interior. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the far northwest of the state. Mostly moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending northeasterly over eastern Queensland.Fire Danger -  High to very high for most of the state.Monday 28 OctoberA high should enter the Tasman Sea from the west, with a ridge remaining in place along the tropical east coast. Isolated light showers in the onshore flow about northeastern Cape York Peninsula. A band of isolated showers and thunderstorms will develop from the northwest to the southeast interior, mostly during the afternoon and evening. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.Tuesday 29 OctoberAn upper level trough will increase the instability to the east of a surface trough stretching from the state's northwest to the southeast inland. This should lead to isolated and thunderstorms to the east of the trough, becoming scattered over the southeast and Gulf Country. Isolated showers over the far northern tropics. Fine though partly cloudy over the remainder of the state. StrongWednesday 30 OctoberA surface trough will move into eastern Queensland, with the coastal part pushing through southern waters. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over southeast and central parts of the state. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over northwestern Queensland. Isolated showers about the far northern tropics. Fine elsewhere.Thursday until SaturdayA high should drift push into the Tasman Sea, pushing the inland trough westwards, and extending the area of showers and storms further west through the interior and into the northwest. A new upper trough developing into the central inland of the state is likely to lead to an increase in this activity about the Capricornia, Wide bay and Central Highlands. Isolated showers along parts of the east coast. Fine in the far west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Sunday.Product IDQ10700
