MELBOURNE - Oct 26/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak high over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the east coast of Queensland. Another stronger high is building over the Great Australian Bight, reinforcing the ridge. A weak trough lies from the northwest of the state to the southeast interior and will move west and weaken as another trough moves into the southwest on Monday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers about eastern Queensland, mostly central parts. Isolated showers over the central interior, with isolated showers and thunderstorms about the Gulf Country. Mostly moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending northeasterly over eastern Queensland.Sunday 27 OctoberIsolated showers about eastern Queensland, tending scattered over parts of the southeast. Isolated morning showers over the central interior. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the far northwest of the state. Mostly moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending northeasterly over eastern Queensland.Fire Danger - High to very high for most of the state.Monday 28 OctoberA high should enter the Tasman Sea from the west and is likely to push some isolated showers onto Cape York Peninsula. A band of showers and storms will develop from the northwest to the southeast interior, mostly during the afternoon and evening. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.Tuesday 29 OctoberAn upper level trough should produce a band of shower and storms stretching from the state's northwest to its southeast. Isolated showers over the far northern tropics. Fine though partly cloudy over the remainder of the state.Wednesday 30 OctoberA surface trough will move into eastern Queensland, with the coastal part pushing through southern waters. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over southeast and central parts of the state. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over northwestern Queensland. Isolated showers about the far northern tropics. Fine elsewhere.Thursday until SaturdayA high should drift push into the Tasman Sea, pushing the inland trough westwards, and extending the area of showers and storms further west through the interior and into the northwest. Isolated showers along parts of the east coast.
