MELBOURNE - Oct 25/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure centre over eastern Bight waters extends a ridge across South Australia and southern NSW. The high and ridge will move slowly southeastwards to be over Victoria on Sunday. Meanwhile the last in a series of cold fronts embedded in a vigorous west to southwesterly airstream will cross Tasmania on Saturday. A trough of low pressure will develop at the head of the Bight on Saturday before tracking steadily eastwards over South Australia on Sunday then across northern Victoria on Monday. A new high pressure system will approach from Bight waters later on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers in the south, mostly near the coast. Mostly cloudy and cool with moderate west to southwest winds, fresh along the coastal fringe.Saturday 26 OctoberIsolated showers near the coast, extending to most southern and mountain areas in the afternoon. Dry over the northern plains. Early morning frost patches in the north. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, fresh about the coast in the morning.Sunday 27 OctoberIsolated showers in the southeast, clearing by the afternoon then patchy rain developing in the west during the afternoon and evening. A cool to mild day with increasing cloud. Light winds.Monday 28 OctoberAreas of rain, mainly over southern and mountain areas, easing to showers from the west late in the day. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with moderate east to southeast wind, turning southwest to southerly from the west and freshening.Tuesday 29 OctoberScattered showers in southern and mountain areas becoming isolated from the west during the morning. Becoming fine over the northern plains.
