MELBOURNE - Oct 23/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over will cross eastern Victoria this morning. A cold and unstable southwesterly airstream following the front will moderate later today. A high pressure ridge will extend from Bight waters to northwest Victoria on Friday and Saturday and move slowly southeastwards on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, more widespread near the West Gippsland coast during the morning. Showers gradually contracting to the coast by the late evening. The chance of local hail and thunder, mainly near the coast during the morning. Showers falling as snow down to 500 metres, rising to 1200 metres at night. A generally cold and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong about elevated areas and near the coast.Friday 25 OctoberEarly morning frost patches in the north. Isolated showers in the south, scattered near the coast. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate west to southwest winds, fresh along the coast.Saturday 26 OctoberIsolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast. Dry over the north. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with moderate west to southwesterly winds.Sunday 27 OctoberIsolated coastal showers clearing during the afternoon.
