Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 23/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front will reach southwest Victoria this evening then cross the remainder of Victoria early on Thursday. A cold and unstable southwesterly airstream following the front will moderate slowly on Friday and a high pressure ridge will extend from Bight waters to northwest Victoria late on Friday and Saturday and move slowly southeastwards on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers in the south, more isolated in the north. Local hail developing in the southwest tonight. Mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong near the coast.Thursday 24 OctoberScattered showers over southern and mountain districts more widespread near the West Gippsland coast during the morning. Showers becoming isolated later in the day. The chance of thunderstorms in the south, with possible hail, mainly in the south. Showers falling as snow down to 800 metres rising to 1200 metres at night. A generally cold and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Friday 25 OctoberEarly morning frost patches in the north. Isolated showers in the south, scattered near the coast. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate west to southwest winds, fresh along the coast.Saturday 26 OctoberIsolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast. Dry over the north. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with moderate west to southwesterly winds.Sunday 27 OctoberIsolated coastal showers clearing during the afternoon. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with light southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
