Moderate to fresh and gusty southwest to southeasterly winds over the interior. Mostly moderate southeast to northeasterly winds elsewhere, fresh to strong over southern waters.Fire Danger - High to very high across the state.Friday 25 OctoberThe trough and an associated cooler south to southeasterly wind change is expected to move north through southern Queensland waters into Capricornia waters. The inland portion of the trough is expected to remain slow moving through the central interior. This will result in isolated showers increasing to scattered through the central interior, Capricornia and northern Wide Bay with isolated gusty thunderstorms possible. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are also possible near the trough through the central west into the tropical interior and southern Gulf of Carpentaria coast. Isolated showers will occur over the southeast near and east of the Great Dividing Range in a moist onshore wind flow and should be more scattered near the coast during the morning due to the trough passage. Isolated light showers will also possibly develop over the northeast tropical coast.Saturday 26 OctoberMost of the unstable conditions and thunderstorm activity should contract offshore with the passage of an upper level trough, however isolated showers are expected to persist over the Capricornia, Central Coast and adjacent inland. Isolated thunderstorms are possible over the central highlands. The coastal trough will weaken near the central coast leading to scattered showers about the coast during the morning. The high will move slowly east towards southeastern Australia, extending a ridge along the east Queensland coast with isolated showers along much of the remainder of the coast. Thunderstorm activity remains likely near the southern Gulf of Carpentaria coast.Sunday 27 OctoberThe high will move through southern Australia and continue to extend a ridge along the eastern Queensland coast. Isolated showers are expected in the east in the onshore flow, while another upper trough is expected to enhance the showers activity over southeast Queensland with possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far northwest. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.Monday until WednesdayThe high will move into the Tasman Sea and continue to extend a ridge along the eastern Queensland coast during Monday. Isolated showers are possible along the east coast before contracting northwards later on Monday as the ridge weakens and a new trough system enters western Queensland. The atmosphere will destabilise ahead of the trough in western and southern Queensland on Tuesday, and extend to eastern Queensland on Wednesday, increasing the potential of showers and thunderstorms generally near and east of the trough. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Thursday.Product IDQ10700 Notice Board Queensland's improving weather services Northwest Queensland weather radar installation complete Media Releases Marketing Meteorological Offices Cairns weather Charleville weather Longreach weather Mackay weather Mount Isa weather Rockhampton weather Townsville weather Weipa weather Other Information About Weather Forecast Services About Warning Services Warnings Water Climate Environment Tropical Cyclones Tsunami Warning Centre Agriculture - Water and the Land Marine & Ocean UV & Sun Protection Rainfall & River Conditions Graphical Views Radar Maps Rainfall Forecasts Seasonal Outlooks Climate Variability & Change Climate Data Online Seasonal Streamflow Forecasts Water Storage MetEye™ National Weather Services Aviation Weather Services Defence Services Space Weather Services Registered User Services Commercial Weather Services Business Entry Point Facebook Google+ Youtube Blog Careers Sitemap Feedback Freedom of Information Indigenous Weather Knowledge Glossary This page was created at 11:15 on Wednesday 23 October 2013 (GMT) © Copyright Commonwealth of Australia 2013, Bureau of Meteorology (ABN 92 637 533 532) | Disclaimer | Privacy | Accessibility var hostname = window.location.hostname; var host = hostname.split("."); if (host[0] == "reg") var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-20386085-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); else if (host[0] == "www") var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-3816559-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); else if (host[0] == "wdev") var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-21709175-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ?
