Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 21/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A southerly change along the coast associated with a weak trough offshore weakens as it moves over the Hunter coast this morning, dissipating around noon. A high pressure ridge over the far northern parts of the state moves over southern Queensland this morning as a complex low pressure system extends across the state, associated with a number of troughs moving over the state into Wednesday. The complex low will extend over the Tasman Sea on Wednesday followed by a cool south to southwesterly change in the afternoon extending across the state by Thursday morning. Conditions will ease as a high pressure system over the Bight extends a ridge across NSW into Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms over much of the state, with little rainfall expected other than on the southwest slopes and southern ranges. Partly cloudy but fine in the northeast. Warm to hot temperatures across the state. Windy over the southwestern inland and then the southern ranges later. Northwest to southwest winds. Fire Danger Ratings Very High: Mid North Coast, Hunter, Central Tablelands, North & Central West Slopes & Plains, Riverina & Upper Western.Wednesday 23 OctoberIsolated showers and thunderstorms with a cloud band, contracting to the northeast of the state by the afternoon. Isolated showers remaining over the southern ranges and slopes. Windy about the southern and central ranges and nearby parts of the coast. Gusty northwest winds, shifting more westerly, ahead of a late south to southwest change extending from the south.Thursday 24 OctoberIsolated showers and thunderstorms over the far northeast. Isolated showers over the Alpine area and far south coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Cooler temperatures apart from the northeast. Southeast to southwest winds extending throughout.Friday 25 OctoberIsolated showers along the northern coast and adjacent east ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Mild temperatures throughout.
