MELBOURNE - Oct 21/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system over South Australia will drift southeastwards across Victoria on Tuesday. The low will rapidly move southeastwards on Wednesday ahead of a cold front that will move over southwestern Victoria later Wednesday. A ridge of high pressure will extend from the Bight across northern Victoria on Thursday and Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayAreas of rain in the south, tending to isolated showers in the north, though remaining dry over the far north. Isolated thunderstorms possible, mainly over the southwest and northeast. Light southwest to southeast winds.Tuesday 22 OctoberRain areas and isolated thunderstorms, more widespread over the southwest with some heavy falls. Cool to mild in the south and warm in the north with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Wednesday 23 OctoberRain areas and isolated thunderstorms contracting east and clearing. Scattered showers to follow in the south, more isolated in the north and remaining dry over the northwest. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds extending throughout.Thursday 24 OctoberScattered showers over southern and mountain districts more widespread near the coast during the morning with the chance of thunderstorms. Possible hail in the south. Showers falling as snow above 1000m . A cool and partly cloudy day with to moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Friday 25 OctoberEarly morning frost patches in the north. Isolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast. Dry elsewhere.
