MELBOURNE - Oct 20/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow moving high pressure system centred near New Zealand will maintain a ridge over northeastern New South Wales during Monday and Tuesday. The ridge will gradually weaken as a low pressure system enters the far southern parts of the state later on Monday. A south to southwesterly wind change is expected to develop along the South Coast and in the far southwest later this morning associated with the trough reaching Sydney overnight. Forecast for the rest of MondayThe chance of showers, and afternoon thunderstorms, in the south and west. Partly cloudy in the north. Morning fog patches about the far northeast. Hot over the central parts of the state including the inland areas of the central coastal districts. Very High Fire Danger Ratings over the Greater Sydney, Hunter, Illawarra, ACT, North Coast, Central and Southern Ranges. Northeast to northwest winds. Winds in the far south of the state tend south to southwesterly with a slow moving wind change, extending up the coast and approaching Sydney by midnight.Tuesday 22 OctoberThe chance of isolated showers in the west and southeast, mainly about the far south. Chance of isolated thunderstorms in the far south and southeast. Partly cloudy in the far northeast. Warm to hot temperatures across the state. Windy over the southwestern inland. Northwest to southwest winds.Wednesday 23 OctoberChance of isolated showers across the state, mainly over the southern slopes. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms about the southern slopes and ranges. Windy about the south and southeast of the state. Winds northwest to southwest.Thursday 24 OctoberIsolated showers over the far northeast and southeast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Cooler temperatures in the southeast.
