MELBOURNE - Oct 20/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over southwest Victoria will move slowly across Victoria on Sunday night and Monday. A low pressure system will develop over South Australia on Monday and will drift southeastwards across Victoria on Tuesday. The low will rapidly move southeastwards on Wednesday ahead of a cold front that will move over southwestern Victoria later Wednesday. A ridge of high pressure will extend from the Bight across northern Victoria on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayFine apart from isolated showers developing over the southwest and central district. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting cooler south to southwesterly from the west this afternoon and evening and extending northeastwards tonight.Monday 21 OctoberAreas of rain developing from the southwest and extending to the central district, though only isolated showers extending over eastern districts. Isolated showers possible over the northern plains during the late afternoon and evening. Warm in the north, cooler in the south. Light to moderate southeast to southwesterly winds tending north to northeast at first.Tuesday 22 OctoberRain areas and isolated thunderstorms. Cool to mild in the south and warm in the north with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Wednesday 23 OctoberRain areas and isolated thunderstorms contracting east and easing to showers during the afternoon. Isolated showers elsewhere clearing from the northwest by the afternoon. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds extending throughout.Thursday 24 OctoberIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, tending scattered near the coast during the morning with the chance of thunderstorms and local hail. Showers falling as snow above 1100m .
