MELBOURNE - Oct 16/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A vigorous cold front over the North East Pastoral district will move across New South Wales today as a high pressure system develops over the Bight. The high will move east over the eastern states on Friday. A trough of low pressure will develop in the far west on Saturday then move east during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers with possible small hail south of Minlaton to Roseworthy to Keith during the early morning, otherwise isolated showers over the agricultural area, contracting to the southeast by late morning and clearing in the evening. Possible morning thunder over Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East, mainly near the coast. Cold in the south, grading to mild to warm in the north. Fresh south to southwesterly winds easing to light to moderate southwest to southeasterly during the afternoon and evening.Friday 18 OctoberFine. Early morning frost over parts of the central and eastern districts then a mild to warm day, grading to hot in the west. Light to moderate northeast to northerly winds, freshening in the west.Saturday 19 OctoberPossible showers and thunder developing west of a line from about Ernabella to Port Lincoln with possible showers extending to Kangaroo Island. Warm to hot with fresh northerly winds strengthening in the far west and areas of raised dust ahead of a milder southerly change expected to move across western coasts during the day.Sunday 20 OctoberCloudy with isolated showers and possible thunder extending from the west to areas west of about Oodnadatta to Renmark. Showers increasing to scattered about central agricultural regions during the day. Generally mild to warm in the south. Hot in the northeast with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a milder southerly change reaching the far northeast by late evening. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday to midnight Sunday are expected to be 5 to 10 mm over much of the southern agricultural area, locally 10 to 15 mm about the Adelaide Hills and southeast, and up to 5 mm over the remainder west of about Oodnadatta to Renmark.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers contracting to the north on Monday, possibly continuing on Tuesday and mostly clearing during Wednesday. Mild to warm.
