Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 16/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong cold front over far western Victoria will cross the remainder of the State during tonight and early on Thursday. An associated deep low pressure system will pass south of Tasmania tomorrow as the next high pressure system moves over the Bight. This high pressure system will move rapidly eastwards, reaching the Tasman Sea Friday afternoon, with northerly winds redeveloping over Victoria. A trough of low pressure will approach western Victoria late Saturday before entering the State on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFresh to strong and gusty northerly winds, locally reaching gale force over southern and elevated areas. A colder gusty west to southwesterly change in the southwest this evening extending to central areas at night. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms to follow the change. Locally raised dust over the northwest.Thursday 17 OctoberScattered showers over southern and mountain districts with local hail and thunder. Isolated showers reaching the northern plains. Snow showers above 1000 metres. A cool to cold and partly cloudy day with fresh to strong and squally west to southwesterly wind, easing somewhat late in the day.Friday 18 OctoberMorning frost patches, mainly in the north, otherwise a dry and mostly sunny day. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds developing.Saturday 19 OctoberFine. A mild to warm and mostly sunny with moderate to locally fresh northerly winds. Lighter winds over the east with afternoon seabreezes developing along the Gippsland coast.Sunday 20 OctoberScattered showers in the west extending to central areas later. A mild to warm day with a moderate to fresh northwesterly wind gradually turning cooler south to southwesterly from the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
