MELBOURNE - Oct 15/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong cold front will sweep across Bight waters to reach western Victoria late Wednesday, crossing the remainder of Victoria early on Thursday. An associated deep low pressure system will pass south of Tasmania on Thursday as the next high pressure system moves over the Bight. This high pressure system will move rapidly eastwards, reaching the Tasman Sea Friday afternoon, with northerly winds redeveloping over Victoria. A trough of low pressure will approach western Victoria late Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayA dry, warm and partly cloudy day with fresh to strong and gusty northerly winds, locally reaching gale force over southern and elevated areas. A colder gusty west to southwesterly change reaching the southwest during the late afternoon and extending to central areas at night. Scattered showers to follow the change.Thursday 17 OctoberScattered showers over southern and mountain districts with local hail and thunder. Isolated showers reaching the northern plains. Snow showers above 1100 metres. A cool to cold and partly cloudy day with fresh to strong and squally west to southwesterly wind, easing somewhat late in the day.Friday 18 OctoberMorning fog and frost patches, mainly in the north, otherwise a dry and mostly sunny day. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds developing.Saturday 19 OctoberFine. A mild to warm and mostly sunny with moderate to locally fresh northerly winds.
