Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 15/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high 1024 hPa will move eastwards across NSW today. A vigorous cold front will move over western and southern parts of the State on Wednesday and the remainder on Thursday morning. A new high will develop over the State later on Thursday then move east on Friday. A trough of low pressure will develop in the far west on Saturday then move east during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine and mostly clear. A mild to warm evening with light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 16 OctoberIsolated showers developing near western and southern coasts during the afternoon, extending over the remainder of the southern agricultural area by late evening. Showers becoming scattered over Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East late evening. Warm to hot with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds, strong and gusty during the morning ahead of a cooler fresh to locally strong southwesterly change moving across the Nullarbor during the morning, the central districts later in the day and reaching the North East Pastoral district late evening. Areas of raised dust possible in the Pastoral and Flinders districts.Thursday 17 OctoberIsolated showers over the West Coast, agricultural areas and south of the Flinders, contracting to the southeast during the morning then clearing by evening. Showers scattered at first with possible small hail over the southern agricultural area. Possible thunderstorms over southern Fleurieu Peninsula, Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East district. Cool to mild in the south grading to hot in the far north. Fresh south to southwest winds extending throughout, then easing to light to moderate southwest to southeast during the afternoon.Friday 18 OctoberFine. Morning frost over parts of the central and eastern districts. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the west. Light to moderate northeasterly winds, freshening in the west.Saturday 19 OctoberIsolated showers and possible thunder developing over the far west then extending east to reach a line from Coober Pedy to Kingscote by evening. Warm to hot with fresh northerly winds ahead of a milder southerly change expected to move across western coasts during the day. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday to midnight Saturday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the southern agricultural area, increasing to 5 to 15 mm over the Mount Lofty Ranges and Lower South East. Less than 1 mm is expected over the remainder.Sunday until TuesdayCloudy with isolated showers and possible thunder extending from the west during Sunday to reach most parts of the State except the far northeast on Monday and Tuesday. Isolated showers increasing to areas of rain over western and south coastal districts on Monday and Tuesday. Warm to hot with freshening northerly winds ahead of a milder southerly change gradually extending over southern parts of the State.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Wednesday.Product IDS10033
