Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 14/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Bight will track rapidly eastwards over New South Wales tonight and Tuesday. A strong cold front will then sweep across Bight waters to reach western Victoria late Wednesday, crossing the remainder of Victoria early on Thursday. An associated deep low pressure system will pass south of Tasmania on Thursday and a new high pressure system will move over the Bight. This high pressure system will also move rapidly eastwards, reaching the Tasman Sea Friday afternoon, with northerly winds redeveloping over Victoria.
Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers over southern and mountain areas becoming isolated this evening the contracting to the coast. Possible hail and thunder in the southeast clearing. Isolated show showers over Alpine areas clearing tonight. Moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, easing.Tuesday 15 OctoberIsolated showers in the southwest and about the coastal fringe clearing during the afternoon. Morning fog and frost patches in the north then a mostly sunny day. Partly cloudy in the south. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds developing.Wednesday 16 OctoberDry during the day with strengthening northwest to northerly winds. A colder gusty west to southwesterly change reaching the southwest during the evening and extending to central areas at night. Scattered showers to follow the change.Thursday 17 OctoberScattered showers over southern and mountain districts with local hail and thunder. Isolated showers reaching the northern plains. Snow showers above 1200 metres. A cool to cold and partly cloudy day with fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Friday 18 OctoberIsolated showers in the southwest and about the coastal fringe clearing during the morning. Morning fog and frost patches in the north. A mostly sunny day. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds developing.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Tuesday.Product IDV10310
