Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 13/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front crossing eastern Victoria will move out over the Tasman Sea tonight. A high pressure system will move across the Bight on Monday then track rapidly eastwards over New South Wales on Tuesday. A strong cold front will then sweep across Bight waters to reach western Victoria on Wednesday afternoon and push across to the east of the State early on Thursday. An associated deep low pressure system will pass south of Tasmania on Thursday and a new high pressure system will move over the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers mostly contracting to the coast and becoming more isolated this evening. Snowfalls possible on Alpine ranges above 1000 metres. Isolated thunderstorms clearing eastwards. Rather cold with fresh and gusty southwesterly winds, strong about the coast.Monday 14 OctoberScattered showers over southern and mountain districts and isolated showers reaching the northern plains. Local hail with the showers, especially in the afternoon. Snow showers above 1000 metres rising to 1400 metres during the day. Local morning frosts in the north. A cool to cold and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Tuesday 15 OctoberIsolated showers in the southwest and about the coastal fringe clearing during the afternoon. Morning frost patches in the northeast. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 16 OctoberDry for most of the day with cloud increasing and northerly winds strengthening over southern and elevated areas. A colder gusty west to southwesterly change reaching the southwest late in the day and extending to central areas at night. Scattered showers to follow the change.Thursday 17 OctoberScattered showers over southern and mountain districts with local hail and thunder. Isolated showers reaching the northern plains. Snow showers above 1200 metres. A cool to cold and partly cloudy day with fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
