Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 12/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough will enter southwest Victoria Saturday night then track eastwards over the State on Sunday morning ahead of a cold front that will follow across the State in the afternoon. A high pressure system will move across the Bight on Monday then track rapidly eastwards over New South Wales on Tuesday. A strong cold front will then sweep across Bight waters to reach western Victoria late on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine apart from possible showers over the southwest tonight. Mild, moderate to fresh northwesterly winds turning cooler southwest to southerly near the west and central coast.Sunday 13 OctoberScattered showers in the southwest extending to remaining southern and mountain areas by the early afternoon. Only isolated showers reaching over the northern plains. Isolated thunderstorms possible, mainly in southern and mountain areas in association with the passage of a cold front. Snow showers developing above 1000 metres during the late afternoon and evening. Mild moderate west to northwesterly wind at first in the east, tending west to southwesterly during the morning then shifting cold stronger southwest to southerly from the west in the afternoon as the front moves through.Monday 14 OctoberIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, tending scattered near the coast. Snow showers above 1000 metres rising to 1400 metres during the day. Local morning frosts in the north. A cool and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Tuesday 15 OctoberIsolated showers in the southwest and about the coastal fringe clearing during the afternoon. Morning frost patches in the northeast. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 16 OctoberDry for most of the day with cloud increasing and fresh to locally strong northerly winds. A colder gusty west to southwesterly change reaching the southwest late in the day and extending to central areas at night. Scattered showers to follow the change.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Sunday.Product IDV10310
