Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 10/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front and associated low pressure trough will cross the State today. A high pressure system will move rapidly eastwards from the head of the Bight early Friday to cross southern New South Wales later on Friday. The next cold front will reach far southwest Victoria Saturday night then will cross the remainder of the State on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayA band of showers will cross the State today and will tend to rain through parts of central and eastern Victoria. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the west and north and locally raised dust over the northwest. Isolated snow showers developing on the Alpine peaks overnight. North to northwesterly winds over northern and eastern districts at first, reaching gale force over Alpine areas, but cooler southwest to southerly winds elsewhere gradually extending throughout.Friday 11 OctoberIsolated showers over southern and mountain areas, contracting to the coast during the morning then clearing. A cool and partly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, easing later from the west.Saturday 12 OctoberIsolated showers developing over the southwest during the afternoon, extending to south parts of the Central district at night. Mild to warm with fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting cooler west to southwesterly in the west later in the day.Sunday 13 OctoberScattered showers in the southwest extending to remaining southern and mountain areas. The chance of thunderstorms in the south with hail. Snow showers developing above 800 metres. Possible shower or thunderstorm during the morning in the northwest. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds extending throughout.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
