MELBOURNE - Oct 10/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation Fresh to strong northerly winds ahead of a cold front over the Northeast Pastoral district, expected to extend toward the far northeast border of the State by later this evening. A high pressure system will form over the Bight today before moving over the eastern states on Friday. A trough will move over western and southern parts of the State on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers and possible thunder over the agricultural areas, west coast and the southern pastorals. Showers increasing to patchy rain over central and eastern districts during the day. Rain clearing the eastern border by evening with isolated showers remaining about far southern coasts. Moderate to fresh southwest winds extending throughout during the evening. Fresh to strong northerly winds in the northeast at first with possible raised dust. Cool to mild in the south and west, grading to hot in the northeast.Friday 11 OctoberPossible isolated light showers about the Lower South East, fine elsewhere. Light to moderate westerly winds in the south, fresh to strong about the coast in the morning, tending southeast to northeast in the north.Saturday 12 OctoberPossible isolated showers developing about the Lower South East, fine otherwise. Cool to mild about the coast, warm to hot inland. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds tending northwesterly in the south, freshening ahead of a moderate to fresh southerly change reaching Renmark to Coober Pedy late evening.Sunday 13 OctoberIsolated showers south of about Adelaide with possible showers over the remainder of the southern agricultural area and Mid North then contracting to southern coasts in the evening. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Moderate southerly winds extending throughout. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday to midnight Sunday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the agricultural area and less than 2 mm elsewhere. Isolated falls of 5 to 10 mm are possible about the ranges and Lower South East district.Monday until WednesdayPossible isolated showers about southern coasts, fine elsewhere. Cool to mild in the south grading to hot in the north. moderate southwest to southeasterly winds becoming light and variable in the north during Tuesday.
