MELBOURNE - Oct 9/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high will drift eastwards across New South Wales today whilst extending a ridge of high pressure along the east coast. A vigorous surface trough should enter the southwest of the state late Thursday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine, dry and sunny across most of the state except for just the chance of some isolated light showers about parts of the east coast. Moderate to fresh southeast to northeast winds.Fire Danger - Severe in the Northwest and Gulf Country districts. High to very high elsewhere.Thursday 10 OctoberA ridge should persist along the east coast, maintaining fine and mostly sunny conditions across the state except for the chance of some isolated, mainly light showers across the northeast coast. Very warm to hot northerly winds ahead of the trough should lead to increased fire dangers over the western and southern interior .Friday 11 OctoberA vigorous surface trough should move eastwards across the southern interior, and a southerly change will move northwards up the southeast coast. Very warm to hot northerly winds ahead of the trough should lead to enhanced fire dangers across southern Queensland. Fine, dry and mostly sunny across the state except for the chance of some isolated showers about the northeast coast and the state's far southeast.Saturday 12 OctoberFine and mostly sunny across the state apart from some isolated showers about parts of the east coast and Gulf Country coast, and isolated showers and thunderstorms about parts of the southeast.Sunday until TuesdayThe state should remain mostly fine and sunny except for the chance of isolated showers about parts of the east coast and Gulf Country coast. Another vigorous trough could move across the southern districts during Sunday and Monday, increasing temperatures and fire dangers. Isolated showers are possible about the southeast interior on Sunday.
