MELBOURNE - Oct 8/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high over southeastern Australia will move slowly northeastwards and off the coast during Wednesday. The high will extend a ridge of high pressure along the east coast. A surface trough located through central Queensland will weaken during Wednesday, before another vigorous surface trough enters the southwest of the state on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine and clear across most of the state. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the Gulf Country, and isolated showers about the southeast coast. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds across most of the state, tending southeast to northeast for coastal areas in the tropics.Wednesday 9 OctoberFine, dry and sunny across most of the state. Isolated showers about the southern and central east coast, extending to the tropics late in the day. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, fresh and gusty at times about the coast and in the far west.Fire Danger - Very high to severe fire dangers for the north and inland parts of the state.Thursday 10 OctoberA ridge should persist along the east coast, maintaining fine and mostly sunny conditions across the state except for the chance of some isolated showers across the northeast coast. Very warm to hot northerly winds ahead of the trough should lead to increased fire dangers over the western and southern interior .Friday 11 OctoberA vigorous surface trough should move eastwards across the southern interior, and a southerly change will move northwards up the southeast coast. Hot northerly winds ahead of the trough are expected to push maximum temperatures well above the October average over the western and southern Queensland, leading to increased fire dangers. Fine, dry and mostly sunny across the state except for the chance of some isolated showers about the northeast coast.Saturday 12 OctoberFine and mostly sunny across the state, apart from some isolated showers about parts of the east coast and Gulf Country coast, and isolated showers and thunderstorms about parts of the southeast.Sunday until TuesdayThe state should remain mostly fine and sunny except for the chance of isolated showers about parts of the east coast and Gulf Country coast.
