MELBOURNE - Oct 4/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over southern New South Wales will move slowly northeastwards during the weekend. A cold front crossing the Bight will reach western Victoria Saturday morning and will gradually move east, passing over central and eastern districts Saturday night and Sunday morning. A small high pressure system will move over Bight waters on Sunday to lie just west of Adelaide on Monday before gradually crossing southern New South Wales on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayPartly cloudy and mostly dry day, only isolated showers possible near and south of the divide. A mild to warm day with fresh northwesterly winds ahead of a cooler west to southwesterly change in the southwest during the morning, extending to central districts at night.Sunday 6 OctoberIsolated showers, mainly over southern and mountain areas, becoming more extensive in the far east in the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms possible about the eastern ranges in the late afternoon and evening. Snow showers possible above 1500 metres in the evening. Mild in the north but cooler and mostly cloudy in the south. Light to moderate southwesterly winds tending west to northwesterly over the northeast, fresh to strong at times over Alpine areas.Monday 7 OctoberIsolated showers possible near and south of the ranges. Mostly sunny over the northern plains. Mainly light south to southwesterly winds.Tuesday 8 OctoberIsolated morning showers possible near the coast then a mild and mostly sunny day.
