Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 2/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system will move across the head of the Bight today then across southern New South Wales on Friday with a strong ridge crossing Victoria. A weak cold front will cross Bass Strait on Saturday with a second weak cold front over Bass Strait and southern Victoria on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers over southern and mountain areas, scattered near the coast and about the alpine area. Isolated thunderstorms and local hail contracting to the east and clearing by the afternoon. Snow showers above 1000 metres, rising to 1500 metres. Showers contracting to the east during the afternoon. Generally cool with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds easing from the west.Friday 4 OctoberLocal early fog and frost inland then a sunny day. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds with afternoon seabreezes along the Gippsland coast.Saturday 5 OctoberMostly dry. Just the chance of isolated showers developing over southern and mountain districts. A mild to warm day with moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly winds tending southerly near the coast during the afternoon.Sunday 6 OctoberIsolated showers developing, mainly over southern and mountain areas. Warm in the north but mild in the south. A mainly cloudy day with light to moderate northwesterly winds tending west to southwesterly.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
