MELBOURNE - Oct 1/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak ridge lies over New South Wales this morning before a weak front crosses the state later today and on Thursday. A high pressure system is then expected to move across NSW during Friday and Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers in the far northeast clearing early this morning. Isolated showers developing over the southern inland late in the day, becoming more widespread about the western slopes of the ranges with snow on the Alps. Mostly clear elsewhere. Early frost patches about the southern ranges. Patchy fog about the northern ranges and slopes. West to southwesterly winds, strengthening in the south, particularly over the ranges.Fire Danger - Very high: Sydney Metropolitan, Greater Hunter, North Coast, New England.Thursday 3 OctoberIsolated showers in the east with possible local thunder. Snow showers on the Alps above 1200 metres and possibly about the peaks of the central ranges. Mostly sunny in the west. Fresh and gusty southwest to southerly winds, strong along the coast.Friday 4 OctoberFine and mostly sunny. Early frost areas in the east. Generally light winds though fresh to strong southerlies on the north coast.Saturday 5 OctoberFine and mostly sunny. Early frost patches about the ranges.
