Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 1/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong cold front is crossing eastern NSW with strong to gale force north to northwesterly winds turning west to southwesterly. A weak ridge will lie over the NSW Wednesday morning before a second, somewhat weaker front affects the state late Wednesday and Thursday. A high pressure ridge is then expected to develop across NSW on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayRain areas and isolated thunderstorms in the northeast. Isolated showers in the southeast with snow on the Alps above 1500 metres. Mostly clear remainder. Strong to gale force northwesterly winds ahead of a cooler, gusty west to southwesterly change. Winds easing this evening.Wednesday 2 OctoberIsolated showers in the northeast clearing early. Isolated showers developing in the southern inland late in the day, becoming more widespread about the western slopes of the ranges with snow on the Alps. Mostly clear elsewhere. Early frost patches about the southern ranges. West to southwesterly winds, strengthening in the south, particularly on the ranges.Fire Danger -  Very high: Sydney Metropolitan, Greater Hunter, North Coast, New England.Thursday 3 OctoberIsolated showers in the east with possible local thunder. Snow showers on the Alps above 1200 metres and possibly about the peaks of the central ranges. Mostly sunny in the west. Fresh and gusty southwest to southerly winds, strong along the coast.Friday 4 OctoberFine and mostly sunny. Early frost areas in the east. Generally light winds though fresh to strong southerlies on the north coast.Saturday 5 OctoberFine and mostly sunny. Early frost patches about the ranges.
