MELBOURNE - Sep 30/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will move slowly across the Tasman Sea over the next few days. A strong cold front over western Victoria will move eastwards across the remainder of the State this morning and early this afternoon. Another strong cold front will cross the State on Wednesday as a high pressure system moves over the Bight. The high will reach western Victoria on Thursday and will move across the State on Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayAreas of rain, particularly over central and eastern districts, tending to scattered showers from the west and then contracting southeastwards during the afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms contracting to the east during the morning and clearing in the early afternoon. Snow showers developing above 1300 metres. Strong and gusty north to northwesterly winds, reaching gale force over elevated areas and near the coast, shifting fresh west to southwesterly from the west during the morning and early afternoon.Wednesday 2 OctoberScattered showers developing from the west over southern and mountain regions, tending more isolated over the northern plains. Isolated thunderstorms possible over southern and mountain areas in the late afternoon and evening with possible hail near the coast. Showers falling as snow above 1100 metres later. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds strengthening about elevated areas and the coastal fringe and shifting west to southwesterly from the west.Thursday 3 OctoberIsolated showers over southern and mountain areas, scattered near the coast and about the alpine area. Snow showers above 1000 metres. Showers clearing from the west during the afternoon. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds easing from the west.Friday 4 OctoberLocal early fog inland then a sunny day.
