Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 30/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will continue to move slowly east. An intense cold front will move across the state today bringing gusty strong to gale force winds and rain areas, mostly on and west of Divide. A second, weaker front is expected to follow late Wednesday/Thursday. A high pressure system is then expected to move across New South Wales on Thursday/Friday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayRain areas in the west extending eastwards during the day, reaching the northeast later in the afternoon and evening and clearing in the southwest. Isolated thunderstorms are possible, more likely about the northeast and possibly severe. Snow expected on the Alps above 1500 metres from around the middle of the day. Hot day in the northeast. Strong northwesterly winds ahead of a gusty west to southwesterly change in western, southern and central parts. Winds locally reaching gale force about the southeast.Fire Danger -  Severe: Greater Hunter, North Coast, Northern Slopes, Northwestern. Very high: Sydney, Illawarra.Wednesday 2 OctoberIsolated showers in the northeast clearing early. Isolated showers developing in the southern inland late in the day with possible snow showers above 1700 metres. Mostly clear elsewhere. Early frost patches about the southern ranges. West to southwesterly winds, freshening in the south.Thursday 3 OctoberIsolated showers in the southeastern inland with possible snow showers on the Alps above 1200 metres. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southerly winds, fresh to strong along the coast.Friday 4 OctoberFine and mostly sunny. Early frost patches about the ranges.
