MELBOURNE - Sep 29/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over New South Wales will weaken on Monday as a cold front approaches from the west. This front will enter the far southwest later tonight and move through the state during Tuesday bringing gusty strong to gale force winds and rain areas, mostly on and west of Divide. This event will be followed by a second, weaker front on late Wednesday. Behind the front another high pressure ridge is expected to develop across southeastern Australia on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayLight rain developing in the far west in the late evening. Mostly sunny in the northeast. Cloud increasing elsewhere. Northwest to northeasterly winds becoming fresh and gusty in the west and southeast. Areas of dust in the southwest.Fire Danger - Very High in the northeast.Tuesday 1 OctoberPartly cloudy on the far north coast. In the remainder light rain extending during the day from west reaching the northeastern parts in the afternoon or evening. Rain more widespread in the southwestern half with possible snow showers on the Alps above 1500 metres. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the northeastern inland. fresh and gusty northerly winds ahead of a southwesterly change in the west and southeast.Wednesday 2 OctoberLight rain in the northeast clearing early. Isolated showers developing in the southeastern inland later in the day with possible snow showers above 1700 metres . Mostly clear elsewhere. West to southwesterly winds.Thursday 3 OctoberIsolated showers in the southeastern inland with possible snow showers on the Alps above 1200 metres. Mostly sunny elsewhere.
