Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 27/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A rapidly moving cold front over southwestern Victoria will cross southern central districts by midday today and the southeast early Saturday afternoon as an associated low pressure system crosses Tasmania. A high pressure system will move across South Australia on Saturday then across New South Wales on Sunday. A trough of low pressure will form over South Australia on Monday, reaching southwestern Victoria late in the day, then a cold front will join with the trough and move across Victoria on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers near and south of the ranges, becoming isolated from the west during the afternoon and contracting to the coast during the evening. Only isolated showers in the northwest during the morning and early afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms and small hail possible near the coast in the morning and early afternoon. Showers falling as snow down to 1300 metres. A cool day with fresh to strong west to northwest winds shifting west to southwesterly from the west and locally reaching gale force about the coast and southern ranges.Sunday 29 SeptemberFine. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day. Mainly moderate westerly winds tending northwesterly from the west.Monday 30 SeptemberCloud increasing from the west with isolated showers developing in the west during the afternoon and reaching central parts by the evening. A generally warm day with fresh to strong north to northwest winds, reaching gale force in elevated areas.Tuesday 1 OctoberAreas of rain, particularly over central and eastern districts, mostly clearing in the west during the afternoon. Mild north to northwesterly winds, strong in the east at first ahead of a colder, fresh southwesterly change during the day.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
