MELBOURNE - Sep 27/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front entering western Victoria will move eastwards across the State tonight. Another cold front will move across southern Victoria on Saturday morning and an associated low pressure system will rapidly cross Tasmania. A high pressure system will move across northern South Australia on Saturday then across New South Wales on Sunday. A trough of low pressure will form over South Australia on Monday, reaching southwest Victoria late in the day then a cold front will join with the trough and move across Victoria on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the southwest extending east to reach central parts during the evening but mainly dry over the far north and east. Fresh northerly wind shifting colder west to southwesterly from the west and becoming strong along the coast.Saturday 28 SeptemberScattered showers near and south of the ranges, becoming isolated from the west during the afternoon and contracting to the coast during the evening. Only isolated showers in the northwest during the morning and early afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms and small hail possible near the coast, contracting eastwards in the afternoon. Showers falling as snow down to 1300 metres. A cool day with fresh to strong west to northwest winds shifting west to southwesterly from the west and locally reaching gale force about the coast and southern ranges.Sunday 29 SeptemberFine. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day. Mainly moderate westerly wind tending northwesterly from the west.Monday 30 SeptemberCloud increasing from the west with isolated showers developing in the west during the afternoon and reaching central parts by the evening. A generally warm day with fresh to strong north to northwest wind, reaching gale force in elevated areas.Tuesday 1 OctoberAreas of rain, particularly over central and eastern districts, mostly clearing in the west during the afternoon.
