MELBOURNE - Sep 25/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong cold front will cross New South Wales today, reaching the northeast in the afternoon and evening. Hot conditions are expected in the northeast ahead of the change with severe to extreme fire dangers. Strong, cooler westerly winds are expected behind the front, reaching gale force in the southeast. A weak high is expected to move over NSW on Friday before another strong front crosses the state Saturday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers over the south, tending widespread about the western slopes of the ranges with snow developing on the Alps. Possible thunder in the far southeast. Areas of raised dust possible in the west. Mostly sunny through central and northern parts. Hot day in the northeast. Increasing northwest winds before a cooler, strong and gusty west to southwesterly change, reaching gale force in the southeast.Fire Danger - Severe to Extreme across northeast NSW north of Sydney.Friday 27 SeptemberMostly sunny. Early frost about the southern ranges. Generally light winds turning northwest to northeast winds and freshening in the south.Saturday 28 SeptemberIsolated showers over the southeastern inland, and possibly about the northeast in the afternoon. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Northwest winds turning cooler west to southwesterly, strong and gusty in the southeast.Sunday 29 SeptemberMostly sunny. Early frost about the southern ranges.
