Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 25/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong cold front crossing the Bight will move quickly across Victoria on Thursday morning. The next high pressure system will move across southern NSW on Friday as another cold front crosses the Bight to reach western districts late Friday. This front will then move across the remainder of the State by early Saturday afternoon with a ridge of high pressure moving across Victoria on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers in Gippsland clearing tonight. Areas of rain developing over the west this evening, extending to central districts by the end of the day. Moderate to fresh west to northwest winds.Thursday 26 SeptemberAreas of rain contracting to the east and clearing during the morning. Scattered showers to follow on and south of the ranges. Isolated thunderstorms possible with small hail, contracting to the coasts during the morning. Showers falling as snow down to 1000 metres. Showers clearing over the northwest during the afternoon and mostly clearing elsewhere by the evening. A cool day with fresh to strong westerly winds reaching gale force along the coastal fringe and about Alpine areas.Friday 27 SeptemberMorning fog and frost patches over the north and isolated early morning showers in the south. A mostly dry and sunny day ahead of isolated showers developing over western districts during the afternoon, extending to central districts at night. Light winds tending moderate to locally fresh northerly over western and central districts during the afternoon. Afternoon seabreezes developing near the Gippsland coast and winds shifting moderate to fresh westerly in the west at night.Saturday 28 SeptemberScattered showers near and south of the ranges tending more extensive about the northeast ranges and West Gippsland. Isolated thunderstorms with small hail possible in the south. Showers falling as snow down to 1200 metres. Only isolated showers over the northwest, clearing during the afternoon. A cool day with fresh west to northwest winds shifting west to southwesterly from the west, strong to gale force about Alpine regions and about the coastal.Sunday 29 SeptemberFine apart from morning showers along the southwest and East Gippsland coasts. A mild to warm and partly cloudy day with mainly moderate westerly wind tending northwesterly in the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
