MELBOURNE - Sep 23/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A northwesterly airstream is expected over the south ahead of a trough of low pressure moving over the State later Wednesday, after which a high will develop over the Bight early Thursday. The high will move steadily eastwards to reach the east coast on Friday morning, as another trough of low pressure moves over SA. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine apart from possible isolated showers about southern coasts and the Lower South East district, contracting southwards and clearing by midday, before re-developing in the Lower South East in the evening. Mild to warm in the south, grading to hot in the north. Moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds, turning light to moderate west to southwesterly in the west and north in the evening.Wednesday 25 SeptemberIsolated showers over the Lower South East district early morning then developing over the agricultural area during the afternoon and evening and becoming scattered about the Ranges and Lower South East district late evening. Possible isolated late thunderstorms over western Kangaroo Island. Mild to warm in the south, grading to hot in the north. Light to moderate southwest to northwesterly winds freshening in the south and west during the day then turning fresh to strong southwesterly in the west later in the day with areas of raised dust over the West Coast and Northwest Pastoral districts in the afternoon and early evening.Thursday 26 SeptemberIsolated showers over the agricultural area contracting to the southern coasts during the afternoon and evening. Showers tending to scattered about the Mt Lofty Ranges and Lower South East district during the early morning. Possible isolated morning thunderstorms about Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East district. Cool to mild grading to warm in the north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds easing during the day then becoming light and variable in the evening.Friday 27 SeptemberIsolated showers extending over the agricultural area. Mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the north. Moderate northerly winds at first ahead of a fresh southwesterly change, strong at times in the west with areas of raised dust from late morning. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday morning to midnight Friday are expected to be less than 2 mm about the north of the agricultural area with 2 to 10 mm elsewhere. Isolated falls of 10 to 15 mm are possible about the Lower South East district and Mt Lofty Ranges.Saturday until MondayIsolated showers about the agricultural area contracting to the Lower South then clearing Sunday morning. Fine otherwise. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the north.
